Peer Review Process
Manuscripts submitted to TANMIYAH: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Sosial undergo a selection and evaluation process conducted by the Editorial Board to ensure compliance with the journal author guidelines, focus and scope, publication ethics, and academic quality standards. The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.
Desk Review. At the desk review stage, the Editorial Board conducts an initial assessment of the manuscript to determine its relevance to the journal focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, academic quality, and overall suitability for further review. Manuscripts that do not fully meet the journal requirements may be returned to the authors for preliminary revision. Manuscripts that are clearly outside the journal scope, fail to meet minimum academic standards, or contain serious ethical or technical problems may be rejected without external peer review.
Peer Review. Manuscripts that successfully pass the desk review stage will be assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area of the manuscript. The reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, relevance, theoretical and methodological soundness, quality of analysis and discussion, clarity of presentation, adequacy of references, and overall contribution to the field. The peer-review process is normally expected to be completed within approximately four weeks, although the actual review period may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
Reviewers Decision. Following the review process, reviewers may provide one of the following recommendations:
- Accepted; the manuscript is considered suitable for publication without substantial revision.
- Accepted with Minor Revisions; the manuscript is suitable for publication after minor corrections or clarifications have been made in response to the reviewers’ comments.
- Accepted with Major Revisions; the manuscript requires substantial revision, which may involve improvements to the theoretical framework, methodology, data analysis, discussion, organization, or presentation of the manuscript.
- Rejected; the manuscript is considered unsuitable for publication because of fundamental problems related to its academic quality, originality, methodology, relevance, or other significant concerns.
Reviewers' recommendations serve as an important basis for the Editorial Board in determining the subsequent editorial decision. The final decision remains the responsibility of the editors.
Revision Stage. Manuscripts requiring revision will be returned to the authors together with the reviewers comments and editorial recommendations. Authors receiving a major revision decision are generally expected to submit the revised manuscript within four weeks, while manuscripts requiring minor revisions should normally be revised within two weeks. Authors are expected to respond systematically to all reviewers comments and clearly indicate the changes made to the manuscript. Where authors disagree with a recommendation, they should provide an appropriate academic explanation.
Final Decision. After the revised manuscript has been submitted, the Editorial Board will reassess the manuscript to determine whether the authors have adequately addressed the reviewers and editors comments. A revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation when necessary. The manuscript may still be rejected at this stage if the required revisions have not been satisfactorily addressed or if significant academic or ethical concerns remain unresolved. The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief and/or the Editorial Board based on the manuscript academic quality, reviewers recommendations, authors revisions, and compliance with the journal policies.
Proofreading. Once a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication, it proceeds to the copyediting and proofreading stages. These processes are intended to improve linguistic accuracy, consistency, academic style, formatting, references, and adherence to the journal publication standards without altering the substance of the authors scholarly arguments.
Correction. After copyediting, the manuscript is prepared in the journal publication layout. A final galley proof may be sent to the corresponding author for verification before publication. At this stage, authors are expected to check typographical errors, author information, tables, figures, references, and other production-related details. Substantial changes to the content are generally not permitted unless approved by the editors.
Publication. Following final approval of the galley proof, the manuscript will be scheduled and published online in the appropriate issue of TANMIYAH: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Sosial. The publication process is completed in accordance with the journal editorial schedule and publication policies.
